Hello Consignors, Volunteers & Shoppers!

 

It’s that time again!  ConsignIt Mom’s next children’s and home consignment sale is August 27, 2011.  You can now register for the sale by visiting our website at www.consignitmom.com.  

 

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND:

 

New Mom Presale -- If you are pregnant, adopting, or have a new baby at home, this special preview sale is for YOU!  Our special New Mom Presale will be Friday, August 26th from Noon to 2 pm.  Only the first 50 registrants (plus one adult “helper” for each new mom) will be able to attend this special presale, and purchases will be limited to infant clothing and accessories up 18 months, maternity clothing, baby furniture and equipment and infant toys.  If you would like to attend the New Mom presale, please register by visiting our website.  Please feel free to share this information with any other new moms you know!

 

 Volunteer Incentive -- Consignors can earn an additional 5% by volunteering for any combination of two shifts on Friday night, August 26th and Saturday, August 27th (any Saturday shift).  Yes, “Top Sellers” will earn 80%!!!!    

 

Drop-off Time Appointments Available – Drop-off appointments are available now.   If you would like to schedule a drop-off time, log into your ConsignIt Mom account and select the “Check-in” tab on the top of the screen to schedule an appointment.  You can still drop off any time Tuesday or Wednesday from 8 am – 8 pm, or Thursday from 8 am – 2 pm, but all scheduled drop-offs will take priority over walk-ins.    

 

Home Furnishings -- All home furnishings must be in like-new condition.  No vacuum cleaners please!  If you intend to donate your leftover home furnishings, you must mark them for discount.  No furniture will be accepted for donation.  If you fail to pick up unsold furniture, we will deduct $20 from your proceeds to cover the cost of transporting from the Armory to a donation center.

 

Age & Condition of Clothing Items -- All clothing must be clean, free of stains and tears, and in good to excellent used condition.  For non-name brand clothing items, please bring only items that are less than three years old.  We will continue to accept Gymboree, Gap and boutique brands that are more than three years old as long as they are in good to excellent used condition. 

 

We will accept:

Fall & winter clothing and shoes

Juniors’ sizes (1, 3, 5, etc.)

Halloween costumes

 

We will not accept:

DROP-SIDE CRIBS (due to new federal regulations prohibiting their sale)

Summer clothing and shoes, including shorts and short-sleeved shirts (unless part of a fall/winter outfit)

Adult sizes

Home furnishings that are not like-new

 

WHY CONSIGN WITH US? 

 

We make security a priority -- We will again have a uniformed police officer during the public sale, and we set up our sales floor and our checkout process to minimize the risk that items will leave the building without being paid for.  In addition, we scan all tags at checkout, to ensure consignors receive credit for all items sold.

 

Organized and easy pick-up -- At pickup, consignors will find their clothing sorted and hanging together, with all of their other items grouped together, and bagged or boxed, if possible.  We strive to provide our consignors with a quick, organized and easy pick-up experience! 

 

No waiting for your check -- You will receive your check when you pick up your items on Sunday!    

 

Home Furnishings -- Home furnishings, including furniture, artwork and rugs are also accepted!  These items can quickly boost your sales to help you be a “Top Seller”!

 

Designer Purses -- We will again have a separate booth for designer purses.  Brands will be limited to Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Vera Bradley and Kate Spade.

 

Books & Movies -- Books and Movies for kids and adults!

 

Top Sellers earn 75% -- We will again be offering a 5% bonus to our “Top Sellers” who have $750 or more in sales. 

 

THE BASICS

 

Pricing:  We have had many people ask us about how to price their items.   The price a consignment store might charge would be a good guideline.  For example, a name brand outfit in excellent condition might sell for $10 - $20, but a non-name brand outfit might only sell for $4 - $8.  Also, think about what you would be willing to pay for the item.  Items like toys tend to sell really well, as long as they aren't priced too high, while maternity clothing, for example, doesn't sell as well.  The prices you put on the items will have a lot to do with how much you sell and how much you take home.  

 

Sale Dates:

Public Sale - Saturday, August 27th, 8 am – Noon; Discount sale (many items ½ price), 1-3 pm. 

Consignor Presale - Friday, August 26th, 6 pm

New Moms Presale - Friday, August 26th, Noon – 2 pm 

Volunteer Presale - Thursday, August 25th, 5 pm (2 shift volunteers), 6 pm (1 shift volunteers)

 

Volunteers -- Volunteer shifts will open August 1st at 8:00 am.  Shifts are first come, first serve so don’t miss out!  Volunteers will now shop one day before the consignors.  Our 2 shift volunteers will shop at 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 25th and our 1 shift volunteers will shop at 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 27th. 

 

Don’t forget, volunteers who work two shifts on Friday night and/or Saturday will receive an additional 5%!

 

 Vendors -- We are now beginning to fill vendor slots and will give first priority to our consignors and volunteers. Our three-table booth rentals are $50.  We will also be distributing "Partner Packs" to the first 300 people attending the presales.  For $25 you can include a brochure, card and/or coupon in the Partner Packs.  We will not allow duplicate business in either the booths or the packs if you secure your spot by August 1st, so reserve your business category early!   On August 1st, we will begin offering $25 tables in addition to the 3-table booth with floor space.  The $25 table will not be limited to one table per business category.  If a business partner reserves a full size booth for $50 prior to August 1st, no $25 tables will be sold in that business category.  If no booths have been reserved in a business category by August 1st, then multiple business partners may reserve $25 tables in that category. If you would like to the only business in a category, please let us know and have your payment to us by August 1st.

The Fall/ Winter sale is less than a month away!  Some important reminders before the August 27th sale -

 

Volunteering - Volunteer shifts are now open!  Sign up now to reserve your preferred time.  In addition to our standard four-hour shifts, we have a couple of other volunteer opportunities available:

 

·                       We need a couple of volunteers to put up yard signs the week of the sale, and take them back down on Saturday night/Sunday morning. This will count as a four-hour volunteer shift, and is best done as a “team” with two people working together.

 

·                       We are also looking for a few strong volunteers to help us set up tables, racks, etc. on Monday, and take them down on Sunday.  These shifts are two hour shifts, but they count as four hour shifts. 

 

·                       Please email us if you are interested in either of these additional volunteer opportunities.

      

Why volunteer?

 

·                       Volunteers shop first!  Two shift volunteers shop at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 25th, and one shift volunteers shop at 6 p.m.

·                       Volunteers for 8-12 or 1-5 shifts on Saturday, August 27th, can shop the discount sale early, at 12:15 p.m.!

·                       Consignors who work a combination of two shifts on Friday, August 26th and/or Saturday, August 27th, will earn an extra 5% of their sales!!!  That’s right, Top Sellers can earn 80% of their sales and all other consignors can earn 75% by working two Friday/Saturday shifts!

 

Don’t forget that you can also have someone else work a shift on your behalf.  For example, if your husband volunteers to work one of the heaving lifting shifts for you, you can count it toward one of your shifts for shopping purposes (as long as your husband does not plan to shop himself)!  

 

Vendor Booths/Tables –$25 vendor tables are now available!  We have two reserved categories – personalized purses/bags (Thirty-one); and tutus/bow holders/petti rompers and diaper covers (Mama Made Tutus).  If you are interested in setting up a table at our event to promote a business that does not compete with our reserved vendor booths, please send a $25 check payable to:

Additionally, partner pack spaces are still available in all categories except beauty products (Avon) and candles (Scentsy).  If you would like to include a flyer, card or coupon in our partner packs, please email us to be sure your category is still available before sending in your check for $25.   

 

Tagging Tips

           

·                       Print tags on white or light colored 60-67# vellum or 110 # card stock only white is preferred).  Tags printed on regular paper are easily torn off, resulting in lost items and missed sales, and tags printed on dark paper do not scan.

·                       Tags print best on inkjet printers.  Tags printed with laser printers tend to flake and wear off quickly.  If we can’t read the tag, we can’t sell the item.

·                       Set your printer to print “normal” or “draft”.  "Best" quality is too dark and causes barcodes to bleed. 

·                       Be sure to print with a black ink cartridge only.

·                       Pin your tags and clothing with safety pins only – no straight pins, please.  There is no need to pin shirts or dresses to the hangers unless they are in danger of falling off (camisoles, for example, might need to be pinned).

·                       Check your number.  If it is not exactly the same (123 is not the same as 0123), please let us know. 

 

Drop-off Times – Drop off will be Tuesday, August 23rd and Wednesday, August 24th from 8 am – 8 pm, and Thursday, August 25th, from 8 am – 2 pm.  We do still have appointment times available on all three days.  Please log into your account to schedule your appointment.  Consignors with appointments will take priority over walk-ins.  We will be adding some additional evening appointment times as we have more volunteers sign up, so check back if you don’t see the appointment time that you want right now.

 

Pick-up – As in the past, ConsignIt Mom will have all of your unsold items sorted and grouped together for easy pick-up!  We work hard at making our sale the best for Consignors!
